Train derails west of Perry, overturns engine and multiple railcars

(WIBW) - A train derailed Saturday night alongside Bridge Road in Perry, Kansas, with over 20 freight cars going off the tracks, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office told 13 News the incident occurred around 10 p.m. Saturday. They add that no injuries or casualties were reported. Railroad crossings were blocked east of Thompsonville and two west of Thompsonville, officials said. A 13 News reporter at the scene saw multiple boxcars, tankers and the engine overturned. Union Pacific rail workers were still repairing damage to the tracks as of 10 a.m. 13 News has reached out to Union Pacific but has not received a response. Sheriff’s Office identifies man killed in 3-vehicle crash near Clearwater, investigation ongoing
